The Browser Choice Alliance (BCA) participated in the Pixel Pioneers conference in Bristol in June, joining over 200 developers, UX designers, and industry professionals.
Our own Thomas Beverley, co-founder of Wavebox.io, addressed Microsoft’s use of misleading user interface patterns, hidden settings, and system updates that complicate users’ ability to set and maintain a non-Edge browser as their default.
He emphasised the importance of fair competition, open standards, and respecting user decisions, advocating for an environment where smaller, innovative browsers can compete based on features rather than market dominance. He even made his own animation of how ‘Edge man’ pulls the rug from under users’ feet.
BCA’s members are committed to promoting browser freedom, and there’ll be plenty more engaging talks like these to come.
