Today, the Browser Choice Alliance is proud to announce a new member: Astian Inc (Midori Browser).
Midori is a lightweight, fast, and secure browser that protects users’ privacy and keeps their data safe.
The browser is available on multiple platforms and formats, but Microsoft represents an important share of its market. That means that Microsoft’s tactics to limit user choice are a significant obstacle for the company’s user growth.
Alfonso Hernandez, Midori Browser: “Our commitment is not only to develop a light, fast and secure browser, that respects the privacy of users. We are also committed to bringing transparency to users, so that they have the freedom to customize, to choose, to enable and disable, without fear of loss of functionality or loss of performance. That’s why we joined the Browser Choice Alliance, to fight for that freedom.”
In addition to the belief – shared amongst all members of the Browser Choice Alliance – that users should have the right to choose and use their preferred browser on Windows, Midori also notes that its browser’s resource consumption is higher than Edge’s (on Windows PCs) no matter how optimized for low consumption its developers make it.
These are just some of the tactics that Microsoft employs to frustrate user choice and to prevent them from choosing and using the default browser they want.
